Are You Able to Show Your Art in a Gallery ?– Yes You Can!
You are entering art in the ASSC Student Art Competition, Show and Sale. Why not submit your art for consideration for Strathcona County’s Annual Art Acquisition – Youth Category (SCAAA)
Strathcona County buys or borrows original art from local artists through its Annual Art Acquisition Program.
If a physical show is not allowed, the images you have sent in to ASSC will be used to jury for the SCAAA, County Acquisitions program.
If we are able to hang the show:
“Youth Art will be juried at the Art Society show in the Red Barn and the selected artworks photographed and put into the Salon Series Exhibition online. Hopefully the public will also be able to visit the show in person in the art gallery. At this time, the art is conditionally selected, subject to approval by Strathcona County Council. The final decisions will be celebrated on Thursday, June 17 at 7 pm at the Mayor's Celebration (Covid restrictions permitting).
Artists, friends and family are invited to the Galley @ 501 on reception night. There is no admission fee to the Gallery.
Artwork that is purchased for Strathcona County’s Art Collection will be distributed throughout Strathcona County buildings for display.
Youth artists have two options when submitting to the Youth Art Collection:
How to Submit
It's easy! Just check off that you would like to submit to the Youth Art Collection on your ASSC Student Show Form. Please be sure to fill out the form completely, with your contact information and details about your work. You will be asked to select whether you would like to submit your work to be considered for purchase or loan.
If you are selecting to have your art For Sale, then you must assign a PRICE. Those entries without a price will not be considered for purchase by the County Acquisition program.
Be sure to check your email regularly during the Student Show and the Salon Series Exhibition as it's the easiest way for the Strathcona County staff to contact you and send you important information.
SCAAA Framing Requirements
The framing requirements for the SCAAA – Youth Category are the same as for the Student Show.
